This project was assigned to me during my time at JD Marketing. The Brief to set up a summer drinks and canape party in one of the receptions at the Science Museum in Kensington. This event would take place on 17 August 2023 from 4-9 pm. The theme was to be about AI and Data with a nod to summer.
Before designing research had to be done. I started off by doing research on each word of the theme.
Data
Images for data were very futuristic. The main colours used were blues and greens, combined with a subtle glow that helps give the image a futuristic look.
Images looked extremely organised and perfect, or they would sometimes look like branches to represent large masses of data.
Colours in the company guidelines were also seen in a few of these images. Space Grey and Slate Blue were colours that were used in many of the images giving me ideas on how I can showcase Data.
AI
Images for AI were very similar to Data. AI did however show sections of the brain and robots interreacting with humans or holograms as a way to show AI as the future or the evolution of the human race.
Another thing I noticed is just like Data they used were primary and secondary colours on Twinklrs guidelines (Space Grey and Slate Blue).
Summer
Summer images used a lot of colours from the Twinklr logo (Sun Orange, Earth Green, Ocean Blue and Sky Blue) they also included secondary colours such are Passion Pink.
Asset Designing
Once the research was complete it was time for me to start designing assets that I think would work for the party I wrote down a list of Ideas and assets that would work for this event. keeping in the theme of AI and Data I thought that the majority of assets should be digital such as menus and welcome pages as it linked more to the theme of futuristic than printed assets.
In the end, I designed 3 assets which were Canape & Cocktail menu, Welcome page and name badges. below are the assets.
Name Badge
When designing assets I based it on steps that the customers would take when entering the event. The first thing they would receive is name badges as that is the first way of making everyone feel welcome.
Welcome Digital Pages
These welcome screens were designed in Illustrator, it was made to be displayed on a screen and would flick between each slide.
Slide 1 (Left-hand side) would greet the customers that enter informing them of what they are about to experience in the event. The second Slide would be directing them either to the bar or where the event would take place. The final slide would just be a placeholder slide for when all guests are in and settled this slide would be the only slide that would appear.
I made sure I kept in the company's guidelines, I used their typeface (Proximal Nova) and all their primary colours were used, and I used the secondary colours if needed.
For icons, I used a glow effect just like in the AI and Data images to give a futuristic look. the colours for the glow were Twinklrs primary and secondary colours which worked well with the summer palm trees. I then used a dark colour from the colour pallet to help the glow on the icons pop out.
Menus
I Designed two separate menus for the Canapes and drinks menu. I copied the same theme on the welcome page using the same or similar assets so none of the designs looked out of place. I expanded the cocktail menu to show better ways of connecting with customers, for example giving the drinks data-themed cocktails and even adding a mocktail menu for customers that don't drink.
